Sun, Sand and Single-use Plastic

Our very own Operations Manager, Melissa Novotny, recently shared her story about how she began her career with Sea Going Green, which was published last week by her alma-mater's (The American University of Paris) magazine: AUP Magazine.

Her passion for combating the negative environmental impacts began while she was working on an assignment in Asia, where she noticed the paradox of heavy plastic pollution and the many young locals who tried to make a difference by refusing single-use plastic bags and participating in clean-ups. To her it was clear: “Tourism was a key reason for this disconnect; to help overcome the paradox, someone needed to convince tourism companies to take steps toward sustainability”.

A few months later she met the founder of Sea Going Green, a startup that is working on marine conservation through ethical tourism. And so, her story at Sea Going Green began…
