SCTDA signs a MoU for the Carbon Reduction Initiative
“Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in collaboration with Sea Going Green, American University of Sharjah (AUS) and Manbat, a platform founded by Arada to facilitate stronger ties between Emirati farmers and consumers.
The signing took place during Sharjah International Travel and Tourism Forum 2024 (SITTF) to consolidate support and efforts for the Carbon Reduction Initiative, and to highlight the importance and impact of sustainable development on UAE and global sustainability goals.”

Toerismesector tekent voor minder plasticvervuiling op vakantiebestemmingen
De ondertekenaars van de International Tourism Plastic Pledge erkennen de urgentie en de noodzaak om samen te werken aan minder plasticvervuiling. Gezamenlijk vertegenwoordigen ze zo’n 180.000 medewerkers en 50 miljoen vakantiegangers. De komende maanden werken ze een concreet plan uit om plasticgebruik op bestemmingen wereldwijd te reduceren en plasticvervuiling te voorkomen. Dit gebeurt in samenwerking met de UNWTO (World Tourism Organization), de UN Environment en de Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

Hiermee spreken ze uit zich gezamenlijk in te zetten voor het verminderen van plasticvervuiling op vakantiebestemmingen. Onder meer TUI Group, ANVR, FOX, Corendon en Better Places behoren tot de ondertekenaars. MVO Nederland is initiatiefnemer en begeleidt de bedrijven naar verdere stappen.
